Oulton Hall is a four star hotel on the outskirts of Leeds, West Yorkshire, and is nestled amongst 300 acres of countryside.
This beautiful 18th century house was once the property of the Blayds/Calverley family and was used as a hospital in the first and second world wars for injured soldiers. Today it is now owned by a large hotel chain and offers many services from a spar facility, golf and of course, afternoon tea...

As always, it is the afternoon tea which is of interest to us and prompted our visit.
On entering the reception area you are greeted by one of the butlers and shown to your seat in the drawing room, where afternoon tea is served. (Oulton hall can cater for up to 40 guests).
There are other choices of food on offer, should any members of your party not want afternoon tea.
Also on offer are several choices of teas and coffees.

Our first impressions of Oulton Hall was one of wonderment.
It is such an imposing and beautiful building, sat in the fabulously well kept grounds that surround it.
It is truly a delightful place, both inside and out...

Afternoon tea is served using bone china plates and tea cups with smart silver teapots, water, milk jugs and sugar bowls/tongs.
There are several different sandwich fillings, as per usual, with two scones (one plain & one fruit) per person, with clotted cream and jam, also a couple of slices of fruit cake and cheese, followed up by a lovely selection of patisserie and desserts.
So our verdict is as follows:-
Ambiance and Atmosphere 9/10
Service 9/10
Food 9/10
Value 8/10 (£22- £25 pp)
Would we go back again?
Absolutely yes!
