This time we are reminiscing about Christmases past.
What super fun when we were about 6 or 7 years of age, when we still believed in you know who.
Once Halloween and Bonfire night was over, our next focus was Christmas! Yippee!!
It was all so much excitement and anticipation, wasn't it? Yes it was.
Actually she was probably right, I did!
I must say at this point, I did not get everything that I wanted. I remember that I never did get one of those girl heads, where you could trim the hair and do it's make up and there was a particular bicycle that I asked Santa for, which turned out not to be the bicycle I was expecting on Christmas morning, but I never complained or mentioned it, that would have been ungrateful, I think.
Again school played a large part in the build up to the day. We would have the yearly nativity play, with angels with wobbly wings and gold or silver card crowns, held together with a gold split pin, with oodles of glue and blobs of glitter representing jewels.
The boys would have a tea towel on their heads, and their parents best rope tie backs from the lounge curtains... and have a Hessian type fabric tunic. Someone, (never me) would be Mary. I think the best casting I managed was an angel on one occasion, other than that I was relegated to the audience in the years following.
Father Christmas would also make an appearance during that week, and hand out a small present to each child. We were always pleased with the small offering, which would usually be a selection box of various chocolate bars or something similar.
The next morning, Christmas Day, I would gingerly make my way downstairs to see if he had been.
Simply magical times..
I do hope you all have a truly merry Christmas.
Blessings and Best Wishes,
Lady Rose x
